The Power of 1 Hour of Care

It’s a labour of love, but caring takes a toll

Our own relationships with client families reveal that this couldn’t be more true. Burnout is a real and present danger for parents managing the challenges of providing 24/7 care to a child with complex health needs and disability.

While many of our families are receiving support via the NDIS, there are children who still fall through the cracks and families whose NDIS funding has been cut or doesn’t cover support at home.

Hannah’s House Respite Care Program is free to families who don’t have NDIS or who need extra help at different times of the year or when they are experiencing greater than usual stress.

What is clear, is that parents and carers need help. Not more online courses, help lines or books to read on managing carer stress. They want hands on, real-life and practical help and support at home and in the community where it makes the most difference.

This is where Hannah’s House steps in. We provide in-home services that are designed to care for the child while delivering quality of life benefits to the whole family.

Research shows that even a few hours relief from the role of direct caregiving helps increase wellbeing and reduces burnout, fatigue, depression and anxiety.

Together, we can make every hour count for Perth children with seriously complex medical needs. With just $80, you can provide 1 hour of comfort, and joy to those who need it the most this winter.

Your impact

Your effort can make a big impact

It is only through the kind generosity of people like you, our corporate donors, that we can continue to provide support free-of-charge to children and families when they need us most.

Many of us experience the joy of children in our lives, but for families with children diagnosed with seriously complex medical needs, the ongoing challenges can often overwhelm those feelings as they simply try and cope with the complexities they face.

Hannah’s House provides vital respite, support and relief for families who are experiencing significant emotional, physical, financial or social hardship as a result of caring for a child with these complex needs and conditions

No matter how you choose to a lend a hand, please give us a call.

Yes, you'll receive a tax receipt on any donation over $2. This will allow you to claim your donation come tax time. Most donations to charity offer the same benefit.

You can use the tax receipt for your donation to claim a deduction at tax time through the Australian Tax Office's online portal. If you have a personal income tax agent, they can submit the deduction on your behalf.

What does my donation go to?

expand_more expand_less

Your donation will go to supporting Hannah's House mission to provide respite for Perth families with children living with complex medical needs or life-limiting conditions.

Burnout is a real and present concern for parents managing the challenges of providing 24/7 care to a child with complex health needs and disability. Hands on, practical help and support at home and in the community can make a big difference. That’s where Hannah’s House steps in. We deliver in-home support and care for the child, offer parents a real break and focus on quality of life for the whole family.

Respite care might also take the form of:

  • Rostered day or night hours at home – scheduled hours at home could include shifts lasting 4 to 8 hours on one or more days per week, spread across an agreed-upon period of weeks.
  • An extended break where parents are away from home and the child is provided with 24-hour in-home care for an agreed number of days.

Our support is flexible and always tailored to meet the needs and goals of the child.
